I started out hungry and did not find food until about 3:30 PM when Gloria delivered a pot of Pearl's delicious home made chicken soup with the most wonderful dumplings.
I spent a long time at Grand Rapids where I had undergone oral surgery for the removal of a fractured root canal... very old. Fragments in the bone had to be removed. I came home and went back to bed until the soup arrived. Ed and Gloria were my patient, non-complaining helpers. They are such precious neighbors to me and Mr C. Ed walks to keep his blood sugar down and he likes to take Mr C with him. He always gives me a poop report as he knows how sick Mr C was just a few months ago. They are best boy friends, now.
I was not doing much talking as my mouth was stuffed with gauze to stop bleeding. But the nurse told me to go to DQ for a malt. The cold would be good for me and the sugar would help get me going. So Ed, Gloria and I had a DQ treat together. Mr C had Cheerios.
When we arrived at the manor and got out of the car we spotted a big snapping turtle. He must be 20 years old. He or she was crying black tears. That was very exciting for all of us.
Then I went home, Gloria offered to keep Mr C so I could rest... which I did.
When Gloria brought the soup I woke up. I noticed the phone was still off so turned it on and immediately I heard Chris Larson talking. "Chris," I screamed, "where are you." She was practically at the door. I went to look out the window and saw Robert parking their car. Chris had come in the front door and we all met in the downstairs corridor. While we were talking Peg arrived! We came up to the flat together and soon Gloria came with the dog. In a few minutes Ed arrived so the small flat quickly filled with gracious conversation. One by one Peg, Ed and Gloria departed. Then it was Robert and Chris. We hardly had time to breathe as we tried to catch up on the years. I saw her last in 1997. I just feel so blessed by the beauty of friends.
